“Shakini Dakini” is a Telugu remake of the Korean film “Midnight Runners”. A film made as male centric there is made female centric here. Sudheer Verma Promotions who has the director title card Somewhere in time. This movie interrogatively.. Regina’s minimal work in the trailer & press meet/promotions brought good buzz to the film. And let’s see if the movie is appealing to the audience..!!

Story: Damini (Regina) and Shalini (Niveda Thomas), who are selected for training in the police academy, do not like each other from the beginning. They become friends while beating and cursing. On one occasion, they saw a girl being kidnapped in front of their eyes.. and felt the responsibility as trainee police.

They try to save the girl and fail for the first time. Later, how Damini-Shalini not only took the girl but also the human trafficking gang to the police is the plot of “Shakini Dakini”.

Acting Performance: Niveda Thomas hits high marks with good screen presence & performance in Telangana accent, bubbly looks. Looks wise, Regina was unable to entertain the audience even though she was good as an actress. The new look she tried was not very impressive. Sudarshan, Hemant, Chammak Chandra, Ravi Varma, Kabir Singh, Bhupal and others have done justice to their roles.

Technical Performance: Director Sudheer Varma’s involvement in this movie is unknown but his mark is nowhere to be seen in terms of making & editing. Therefore.. Frames seen in Sudheer Varma’s films but screenplay is not seen in this film. However, the way the Korean story is adapted to the Indian Nativity is good… the excitement in the first half is not visible in the second half.

Therefore, the audience will feel bored when the second half starts. Background music but songs fail to create any interest. Richard Prasad’s cinematography work is good. It would have been better to be more careful about the action scenes & night scenes. While the production design is soso.. the arc work is good.

Analysis: “Shakini Dakini” is nothing new. But.. screening this film as a female centric gives a new feeling. However.. The impact created as if the film is over in Interval Black, the screen play in the second half but the logic but not in sync has become a minus. Overall, “Shakini Dakini” remains a time pass entertainer.
