A massive fire broke out in the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma city City at Paravada of Visakhapatnam on Monday night following heavy explosions in Ramky CETP Solvent Pharma Company, causing panic among residents. At least one person was injured in the blaze. The injured was rushed to a hospital in Gajuwaka.
An explosion was first heard at a unit of Ramky Solvents, following which there was a huge fire. The fire incident is reported to have occurred in the Coastal Waste Management Project.
DCP Suresh Babu, confirmed that the fire which broke out at 10:30 pm, has been doused and one person was injured in the incident.
According to locals around 17 explosions were heard from blaze area. The blaze is so massive that it can be seen from a distance of more than a kilometre. The sources reported that more than 12 fire tenders were deployed to douse the flames. The fire is under control now. The fire started from the reactor and spread to other parts of the plant. However, there was also no loss of life in the incident.
We have already reported that on 7th May, a blast in LG Polymers plant in the city caused a massive gas leak which killed 14 people and sent several others to emergency.
