Tamil actor Shaam and 12 others were arrested by the Chennai police for gambling at his apartment in Nungambakkam area in Chennai on 27th July. Chennai Police said tokens allegedly used for gambling have been recovered from Shaam’ flat in the upscale Nungambakkam area. The other actors were also gambling there. Tamil actors including Shaam were indulged in the illegal activity late at night amid the lockdown.
A senior police officer said, Shaam has been arrested along with 11 others. They are investigating the modus operandi over the use of tokens. FIR has been filed under Section 45, Section 46 of the City Police Act. However, the actor Shaam is already out on bail.
The Chennai Police seized game boards, tokens and lakhs of money at a flat in Nungambakkam, which belongs to Shaam. According to the police, the gambling club was operating between 11 pm and 4 am. All who were caught have been let off with station bail.
Shaam made his debut in Tamil film Industry with 12B which was released in 2001. He later shot to fame in Telugu with films like Kick and Race Gurram. Currently he is waiting for the release of his long-delayed Tamil film, Party, which is helmed by Venkat Prabhu.
