Karthi’s latest release, Kaithi (Tamil Version) is now streaming on Hotstar. Khaithi has become a cause of fights for the producer and exhibitors. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Managaram fame, the movie opened to glowing reviews. One of the big Diwali releases, alongside Vijay starrer Bigil, Kaithi also performed very well at the box-office. But, interestingly, as soon as Khaithi began streaming on the platform, some of the leading multiplexes in Chennai stopped screening the film. The producer SR Prabhu said, “I see lot of genuine concerns over the 30 day window for the movie in OTT while running successfully in Box office. Theatrical audience will be reduced eventually if we continue this trend!?”

The exhibitors strongly feel that the film Khaithi (Tamil Version) if its running to packed houses should not be released on a streaming platform for at least 50 days. The movie has to run in cinemas in order to generate more revenue from the theatres.

In Kahidi, Karthi is essaying the role of a convict who is ready to go to any lengths to see his daughter. The film also has Narain and Dheena in crucial roles.
