Pakistani award winning Film maker Jamshed Mehmood, who is popularly known as Jami, has revealed recently that he was raped by a media giant 13 years ago. Jami has been very vocal in lending his support to the #MeToo movement when it took off in Pakistan.

Recently Jami took to his Twitter and revealed, “Why I am so strongly supporting #metoo ? because I know exactly how it happens now, inside a room then outside courts inside courts and how a survivor hides confidences because  i was brutally raped by a very powerful person in our media giant.”

Jami shared a series a tweets on Twitter and revealed  that though he told his friends about the rape,  but neither none of them believed him now anyone took him seriously. The Pakistani Film Maker said, “I told about my rape to my close friends but no one took it seriously. I also revealed them so many times with the name of this tycoon but no one believed.”

Jami added that the man who raped him is a media ‘giant’ in Pakistan. As a result, the filmmaker Jami  wrote on his social media sites- Twitter, the story on his rape has been taken down by all websites of Pakistani media.

Jami further said that he also underwent therapy. Jami concluded it by saying, “Someday I will open up too … metoo.”

In India, the upcoming film Housefull 4 was one of the biggest projects in Bollywood to face the wrath of #MeToo movement as Sajid Khan had to step down from his directing duties after the s*xual harassment charges were levelled against him.

In South Indian Film Industry, number of the actress including Sri Reddy, Varalaxmi, Aishwarya Rajesh, Shruthi Hariharan have already spoke about the casting couch. Sri Reddy is one of the actresses who is fighting against the casting couch and she has already revealed several names who asked her s*xual favour.
