The Income tax sleuths raided Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Galla Jayadev’ properties and locations last night. With just a few hours before polls, these raids have come as a shock for the TDP. Galla Jayadev, who is also the owner of Amaron Batteries, along with his colleagues, staged a dharna in Guntur’s Pattabhipuram and walked up to the Guntur collector’s office in protest against the ‘crackdown’
The sources say that the officials are questioning Galla Jayadev’s company accountant. The central government is targeting TDP (Telugu Desam Party) through these searches.
The raids were conducted at places where Galla Jayadev’s election campaign team has been residing. Galla Jayadev questioned, “I demand explanation from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these targeted raids.” He questioned, “Why is TDP (Telugu Desam Party) being targeted in Andhra Pradesh?
TDP spokesperson Lanka Dinakar said Jayadev, along with other TDP leaders, are staging a ‘Dharna’ against the IT raids.” He further said, “This Income Tax raid against Galla Jayadev is because he called on Prime Minister in Lok Sabha.” He added, “ Galla Jayadev is one of the highest income taxpayers in Andhra Pradesh.”
Galla Jayadev, an industrialist and the managing director of Amara Raja Group, was the richest candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He is the face of TDP’s attack against NDA over the issue of special status for AP.
Galla Jayadev alleged vendetta politics and said, “It is happening at 3 locations where my election team was staying. I am demanding an explanation on why we are being targeted.”
