Today, the BCCI has announced that India will be hosting the Women’s World Cup 2025. And this is the fourth time for India to host the tournament. The last World Cup was held in New Zealand, where Australia lifted their 7th title. However, India hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1978, 1997 and 2013 and all three were won by the Aussies.
Taking to Instagram, the Indian cricket team wrote, “Excitement Levels Up! India to host the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup. The 50-over World Cup returns to India after 2013.”
The 2025 World Cup is going to be Harmanpreet Kaur’s first World Cup as a captain. The BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly said, “We were keen on hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and we are glad we have won the hosting rights for this marquee clash on the women’s calendar. The popularity of women’s cricket is rapidly rising and this is a step in the right direction.”
The Honorary Secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah said, “We are delighted to host the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and let me tell you that the BCCI will leave no stone unturned to make it a memorable event for everyone concerned.”
