The BCCI has revealed the Indian women’s cricket team for the appraoching Commonwealth games that are going to take place from July 28th. During T20 cricket’s debut at the quadrennial event, the 15-member squad will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana and the wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia will make their comeback to the game.
Yastika Bhatia will be the first-choice stumper. The casualty was Bengal’s Richa Ghosh, who has secured 191 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 112 plus but is now on the reserves list as she has fallen off the radar of late. The tournament will also include season leg-spinner Poonam Yadav and Simran Bahadur as stand-by players.
India is named in Group A alongside Australia, Barbados and Pakistan. It will face Australia on the 29th of this month. Whereas, Group B consists of host England, New Zealand, Sout Africa and Sri Lanka.
