The 67th National Film awards were presented by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday morning. The social message oriented movie Maharshi starring Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and Jersey featuring Natural star Nani won two National Awards each. The movie Maharshi won awards in Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Choreography for Raju Sundaram. Vamsi Paidipally, the director of Maharshi and producer Dil Raju have received the National awards from Venkaiah Naidu today morning.
Nani and Shraddha Srinath starrer Jersey grabbed two awards in the categories of Best Telugu films.
Malayalam period epic Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea won the award for the Best Feature Film. The film-maker was honored with a Swarna Kamal at the ceremony. His son Siddharth won the National Award for the best special effects for the same movie Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea.
Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth was conferred with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Darbar actor dedicated the honor to his mentor and guru the late filmmaker K Balachander. Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut and Dhanush won acting honors.
Kangana Ranaut, who won the Best Actress award for two films Panga and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, attended the award ceremony in a traditional Indian avatar, she paired it with her silk saree with a floral hair bun.
