The legendary athlete, and Asian gold medalist Milkha Singh, who is popularly known as ‘Flying Singh’, has died at the age of 91. On June 13, Sunday, Nirmal Milkha Singh, former Indian volleyball captain, and Milkha Singh’ wife had also breathed her last after suffering from Coronavirus and battling the virus for more than nineteen days at a Mohali hospital. Nandamuri Balakrishna condolences over the demise of Milkha Singh.
Lion and Simha fame star Balakrishna said, “It’a very heartbreaking news, We have lost as legend, Milkha Singh is no more. When the country India was figuring out how to walk post independence, you shows us how to run. You taught us to dream big and then chase the dream despite all odds.”
The legendary athlete Milkha Singh was a four time Asian Games gold medallist and the 1958 Commonwealth Games champion.
The sources revealed that Milkha Singh’ condition turned critical as he developed complications, including the fever and dipping oxygen saturation levels, after a bout with Coronavirus, in the Intensive Care Unit-ICU of the PGIMER hospital in Mohali.
The Padma Shri awardee Milkha Singh had contracted Coronavirus last month and he was tested negative for the virus on Wednesday when he was shifted to general Intensive Care Unit in another block of the hospital.
