A ‘Corona Devi‘ temple has been constructed on the outskirts of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu state. The Corona Devi temple has been built by the mutt, Kamatchipuri Adheenam. And it is dedicated by the faithful to deity Amman seeking her protection when the plague struck the district about 150 years ago. The idol which is named ‘Corona Devi’ has also been placed in the temple. Daily prayers are being held in the temple seeking blessings to save the people from the deadly virus. The pics of Corona Devi are going viral on the social media. Some netizens have shared the photographs with Bigg Boss ex- contestant Vanitha Vijaykumar. They are trolling Vanitha Vijayumar saying that she shares a striking resemblance to the Corona Devi idol and they are creating memes on microblogging page.
Vanitha Vijaykumar took to her Twitter and shared the pic of Corona Devi and revealed that she’s been receiving the photo from everyone. Instead of lashing out, the ex Bigg Boss contestant took the memes and trolls light heartedly.
This is not the first time such a temple has come up in TN. When plague spread across Coimbatore killing many people more than a century ago, an idol of Mariamman was installed.
