The creative and talented director Shankar who is known for making 2.0 and I, has landed in a legal soup a day after he announced Hindi adaptation of his 2005 hit film Anniyan in which Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh will play the lead role. Today the Producer V Ravichandran of Ascar Films who originally produced, has sent a legal notice along with a scathing letter, accusing Shankar of indulging in the unlawful acts.
It is known news that yesterday, Ranveer Singh took to his microblogging page and made official announcement regarding his project with Shankar, which was a remake of Shankar’ Anniyan, starring Chiyaan Vikram and Sadha in the lead roles. Today the producer Aascar V Ravichandran has sent a letter and a legal notice to director Shankar and the Bollywood production house, citing violation of copyright and asking them to stop work on this remake. Aascar V Ravichandran is claiming that he bought the full rights of the story from Tamil writer Sujatha.
Ravichandran also said that he had helped Shankar regain his lost ground after the debacle of Boys which was released in 2003, and the producer asked him to stop work on the new project. Ravichandran claimed that he is the and sole owner of the rights.
