The biopic of the first Indian Olympic medal winner in the 1995 Olympics, Karnam Malleswari is on the cards. According to the latest update, Sanjana Reddy is on the board to helm the biopic of Karnam Malleswari while Kona Venkat with MVV Satyanarayana are bankrolling the film. A noted Bollywood production house is also joining hands.
Recently during the media interaction, Kona Venkat opened up about the biopic of Karnam Malleswari and said, “ The upcoming flick is going to be an inspiration to the present generation. A poor girl from a remote village in Srikakualm district won the Bronze medal for our country India in Olympics. That is definitely a big story to narrate.”
Karanam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics in the year 2000. The upcoming biopic will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages and will be released next year. Born in Srikakulam, Karanam Malleswari inspired the new generation of Indian sportswomen. She is now living in New Delhi.
Kona Venkat’ film will be officially announced on the occasion of International Women’s Day. On the other side, Kona Venkat’ Nishabdham starring Anushka Shetty and Madhavan is slated to hit the theaters on 2nd April.
