The popular filmmaker and actor Bhagyaraj said at the recent music launch of the film Karuthukalai Pathivu Sei, “Women let rape happen, don’t blame only men.” Everyone was shocked after hearing these from Bhagyaraj.
Bhagyaraj came up with a barrage of misogynistic statements where he held the women responsible for being raped. He made a string of misogynistic comments justifying instances of rapes by blaming ladies for ‘being careless’ and ‘letting men use’ them.
The Tamil film director K Bhagyaraj said, “The boys can’t always be blamed’ for such crimes.” He made misogynistic and offensive comments about victims of s*xual assault.
K Bhagyaraj said that women were equally responsible for s*xual crimes committed against them.
K Bhagyaraj talked about how the young generation is addicted to smartphones, he said he would often wonder how the men would keep changing their SIM cards so that they can avoid the girl they met the previous night.
K Bhagyaraj also talked about the incidents – Pollachi rape assault and said that it happened because ‘women let it happen.’ He added that men alone should not be blamed for this as women were weak so men just took advantage of that.
Other celebs such as Kasthuri Raja, S Ve Shekher, music director Dheena who were present on the same stage, remained silent as Bhagyaraj’s statements were getting applause from the audience.
K Bhagyaraj added, “If a man does a mistake, it won’t be a big deal. But if a woman does the same, it is a big issue. Because if a man has a second wife, he will make sure that that woman is happy, will give her money and property and his first wife will also not be affected. But as for women, look at what the papers even say, women, kill husbands and kids for an affair.”
