Mani Ratnam hospitalised due to cardiac issues

The creative and talented film maker Mani Ratnam who is popular for making is known for directing films such as Roja, Guru, Yuva among others, has been hospitalised in a Chennai hospital after some cardiac issues. Mani Ratnam who has a history of heart issues, suffered a heart attack on the sets of Yuva in 2004. He was again hospitalised in 2015 due to cardiac problem. He was holidaying in, Kashmir when he had chest pain. He flew down to Delhi for treatment. And now this time once Mani Ratnam is in hospital.

Mani Ratnam is one of the most popular and celebrated filmmakers in the South Indian industry. He has been the man behind cinematic gems such as Bombay, Dil Se and Ok Kanmani among more.

Mani Ratnam’ father S. Gopala Ratnam was a film distributor who worked for Venus Pictures, and his uncle “Venus” Krishnamurthy was a film producer.

Mani Ratnam is well recognized outside India with a retrospective of his movies held at various film festivals around the world such as Toronto International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, Tokyo Filmex and Birmingham International Film Festival.

On the workside, Mani Ratnam is currently working on his upcoming project Ponniyin Selvan, based on the novel of Amarar Kalki revolves around the kingdom of Raja Raja Cholan. Unfortunately, Lyca Productions has backed out from the project due to unknown reasons. The movie has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Amala Paul, Jayaram Ravi and Karthi.
